My Story

Dr. Alexandria Kurtz is a proud Arizonan and Sun Devil. She completed her undergraduate degree at Arizona State University and chose to pursue Osteopathic Medicine because she felt drawn to the Osteopathic tenets, which focus on treating the Whole person -- mind, body and spirit, and the supporting the innate self-regulating and self-healing capabilities of the body. Doctor Kurtz completed Medical School at A.T. Still University of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, where she quickly recognized her passion for psychiatry and devotion to the field of mental health.

Doctor Kurtz completed her residency at Creighton University in Phoenix, Arizona, affiliated with Valleywise health, and trained within the nearly 400-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital system. During her intern year of residency training, she completed rotations in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine within Valleywise Health, as well as in Neurology at the world renowned Barrow Neurological Institute. As a part of her psychiatric training she worked in a variety of settings, including Valleywise Health's 3 large inpatient facilities, Banner Alzheimer's Institute, Mayo Clinic, VA Hospital, Arizona State Hospital, St. Joesph's Hospital/Medical Center, St. Vincent De Paul Clinic, as well as numerous other outpatient clinics in the Valley. Doctor Kurtz also carried a large panel of outpatients within Valleywise Health's Outpatient Resident Clinic, conducting various types of therapy as well as medication management.

During her final year of training, Dr. Kurtz completed a fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry, an area in which she is particularly passionate. After completion of her fellowship, she also completed additional training to earn a certificate in Nutritional Psychiatry. As an Integrative and Nutritional Psychiatrist, she enjoys coming alongside people to discover root causes for psychiatric symptoms, and in keeping with her osteopathic roots, developing treatment plans that treat the Whole person -- mind, body and spirit. Dr. Kurtz believes strongly in the use of evidence based practices, and the importance of continuing education to further her knowledge-base as the field of psychiatry continues to evolve.

Personally, Dr. Kurtz adopts a "practice what you preach" mindset, and is continually working to cultivate a healthy, balanced life while prioritizing her own wellness. Throughout her life Dr. Kurtz has enjoyed being involved in her Church, which has helped her develop a personal understanding of spiritual development and recognize the importance of community in wellness. When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Kurtz planning her next trip, cooking healthy + nutrient dense meals, and spending time outside with her husband and their Goldendoodles, Oliver & Lucy.
